The Ford Focus ST could be specified as a hatchback or estate and there are two 2.0-litre engines to choose from – one petrol and one diesel. As you might expect, it’s the 250PS four-cylinder petrol that provides the most fun, with 0-62mph taking 6.5 seconds and 360Nm of torque flowing all the way to 5000rpm.

The 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder Ecoboost engine is a perky little thing. Available with power outputs just below 99hp, all the way up to 136hp, it’s a remarkably impressive motor. It doesn’t (according to official figures) drink too much fuel, yet offers decent in gear power.

Prices for the Ford Focus kick off at €22,000 in base specification, however the ST-Line, being one of the higher specification models in the range, has a starting prcice tag of €24,875 with the 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine.
The new Focus ST is powered by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, delivering 280 PS and 420 Nm of torque supported by a twin-scroll turbocharger with anti-lag technology. A six-speed manual gearbox is standard with rev-matching technology when specified with the optional X Pack for smoother, more consistent down-shifts.
